Anti Hayfever Porridge

It's that time of year. The hankies are out.

If  like me you suffer from hay fever you should be pleased to know that you don't have to reach for the pharmacy anti histamines.

This porridge can help your symptoms and in some will relieve completely! This porridge will not only hopefully help your hay fever but help keep you full, beat any belly bloating, and help reduce cholesterol levels.


  • 50g Porridge Oats
  • 350ml Water or Plant Milk if you prefer for added protein, or a mixture of the two
  • 1 Orange
  • 1 teaspoon of Linseeds
  • 1 grated Apple
  • Nettle powder 1 tsp  (available to buy, or make your own by drying out nettles then blending into a powder)

Please always use organic if possible.

Put the oats in a saucepan, pour in the water or milk.  Bring to the boil and simmer for 4-5 minutes, stirring from time to time and watching carefully that it doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan.

Add grated apple, a great source of pectin to help wake you up and keep you full. One orange, for some added sweetness, fibre and vitamin C. Sprinkle with nettle powder. Nettles help release the bodies natural histamines .
